prevent direct access integration

No, we can’t, unfortunately…. 🙁

This was requested back in 2019, and we checked it out, and the plugin doesn’t have any hooks that would allow us to extend the UI or access system.

But we knew it would be really valuable to be able to protect file downloads based on CRM tags.

So we forked Prevent Direct Access, and created our own addon called the Downloads Addon (https://wpfusion.com/documentation/downloads/downloads-overview/). This plugin is actually just a copy of Prevent Direct Access, but with WP Fusion features built in.

However… because of different filesystems / caching setups with different hosts, it became too expensive to maintain as a free addon. It really needs a full time team to develop and support it.

(You’re welcome to try that addon— it works on Apache hosting very well).

These days we are recommending Download Monitor as a way to protect files. It’s more developer friendly and we were able to create a reliable integration: https://wpfusion.com/documentation/other/download-monitor/

It also allows you to display personalized download listings based on the user’s tags.
