WooCommerce Subscription product tags for "is pending"
The tagging support for WooCommerce Subscription Products covers most status based scenarios, except for "status = pending". Currently there are fields for: Product tags when - – Purchased – Refunded – Transaction failed Subscription tags when - – Renewal payment failed – Cancelled – Put on hold – Pending cancellation – Expired – Free trial over Would be quite useful to have a Subscription tag option for "Pending", to cover cases similar to an order+subscription which has been placed (or manually created), and has not yet been paid/completed. Thanks!
Hey Glen,
Can you give us some more info on your signup process?
For example, are the subscriptions pending due to a payment failure at checkout? If so, the “Apply tags – transaction failed” setting might be more appropriate: https://wpfusion.com/documentation/ecommerce/woocommerce-subscriptions/#product-setup
Or, if you’re adding subscriptions manually in the admin, how do the users pay for them later?
My only concern with this is that some people see a setting and feel like they have to use it 😅.
We’ve had issues with people syncing the Pending *order* status, because this has to create a contact in the CRM before the order details are finalized, and then update it and tag them one second later after the payment is received.
This can add several seconds to the checkout (due to sending the API calls) and is almost never necessary.
So if we add the option for subscriptions I’d like to make sure it’s targeted to just the scenarios where it’s helpful (like maybe we’d limit it only to orders added via the admin).
Hi Jack,
Thanks for your patience, lots going on!
If it was a result of a failed payment that would make this all a bit easier 🙂 Unfortunately it’s not the case.
Depending on the client, the process may differ a little, but really it comes down to these two things for pending subscriptions in our setups:
1. The subscription and parent order are created by hand in the WP dashboard with a status of pending, and the order details are sent to the customer to pay the order by CC
2. The customer checks out through the front-end, using a gateway which results in the order being set to “pending payment”
With (2), this might be a “Pay on Invoice” type of gateway, where the customer transfers money directly via their bank, and site admin/accountants complete the order in the WP admin once they have received the money. We have an instance where we’re using https://wordpress.org/plugins/invoice-gateway-for-woocommerce/ for eg.
Hope that helps clarify the setup on this end.
Please let us know if you have any more queries!
Dan
Hey Dan, thanks for the details!
It sounds like in both cases a pending order is created as well. Have you tried adding a tag for the pending order status at Settings >> WP Fusion >> Integrations >> WooCommerce Order Statuses? https://i.wpfusion.com/NdpMWtJ7
